ESCAPE to the WILDERNESS || COLD CAMPING in WINTER WALL TENT

Freezing cold temperatures reach -35c by early morning. We arrive at the winter camp and setup for day ensuring enough wood is cut to stay warm despite the freezing cold while completing our daily camp chores. Fellow northerner and friend Jay Legere joins us for a day on the island to escape into the wilderness. We are in desperate need of a heavy snowfall so we can use the skidoo/ snowmobile with out damaging the ski's on the rocky Canadian shield. -40c is just around the corner as winter in already upon us. The first 5 inches of ice on the lake allowed us to access the island the last week of October which gave us a much needed head start for this winter camp season. We spend the day cooking some delicious camp food over a camp fire. Knowing how to cook using a cast iron dutch oven has broadened out list of camp fire/ camping recipes. Surviving in frigid cold temperatures down to -40°C is completely doable as long as you follow these basic tips on how to set up a hot tent for winter camping with an internal frame.
