Albert Maysles is widely recognized as a pioneer of the direct cinema style of documentary. With his late brother David, he earned critical, peer and audience acclaim as among the first filmmakers to make nonfiction features - films in which life's dramas unfold without traditional devices like scripts, sets or narration. Maysles films are imbued with integrity, great storytelling and superb artistic rendering.
