Stator Repair - 2 of 9 - Breaking the Compensator Nut Loose

This is one of several short videos demonstrating removal and installation of a new stator our 1995 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Classic.

Tool Part Number: hd-41214 primary drive locking tool; or from V-Twin - 16-0650.

If you are having problems removing the nut try one of the following:

1) Verify you are turn the nut the correct direction. (Righty Tighty; Lefty Loosy)

2) a LONG Pipe extension on the breaker bar. You'll need two people. One to hold the breaker bar and socket in place on the nut, and the second to push down on the additional leverage, a long pipe, you have added to the breaker bar.

3) an Impact Gun; a STRONG one. Caution - there may be sharp edges on the nut afterward.

Remember -- the manual states: Install compensator nut with two drops of Locktite 262 (Red) and torque to 150-165 lbs.

If you are having trouble, please consider taking a video of your before and after experience to share with others. Send it to me and I'll post if needed. Don't worry about mistakes ... our mistakes are what everyone can learn from.

As always, your comments and suggestions are welcome.
