Curator Robert Storr on Ad Reinhardt at David Zwirner, New York

On the occasion of the centennial anniversary of Ad Reinhardt's birth, David Zwirner has presented an exhibition of the artist's work in collaboration with the Ad Reinhardt Foundation (November 7 - December 18, 2013). Curated by Robert Storr, this is the gallery's inaugural exhibition of Reinhardt's work and is on view in the 537 West 20th Street location.

On November 9, Mr. Storr gave a guided tour of Ad Reinhardt at the gallery. He is the author of the book How to Look: Ad Reinhardt Art Comics, which was published to accompany the exhibition. In the spring of 2014, the gallery will publish a monograph on Reinhardt's work, which will include new scholarship by Mr. Storr.

Robert Storr is an artist and critic based in New York and New Haven, Connecticut. He was curator, then senior curator, in the Department of Painting and Sculpture at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, from 1990 to 2002. In 2002 he was named the first Rosalie Solow Professor of Modern Art at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University. In 2006, Mr. Storr was appointed Professor of painting/printmaking and Dean of the Yale University School of Art. He has been a contributing editor at Art in America since 1981 and writes frequently for Artforum, Parkett, Art Press, and Frieze. He has written numerous books and essays on art and artists, including Chuck Close, Gerhardt Richter, Franz West, Louise Bourgeois, Bruce Nauman, Robert Ryman, and Philip Guston.
