Mom can't take care of my stepson so he has been living with us for the last 8 months. We are still paying child support and don't have the money for our lawyer to file yet. We're halfway paid but we have concerns about mom showing up trying to take son and we spoke to the attorney about this and he said the best thing we could do is try to explain our situation if it got to that point where the police were called or something like that. We're doing our best to try to get him paid off quickly so
The motion can be filed, and we can try to get things resolved. It's taking some time because even though we've had him for five months, we're still paying child support to mom. Our attorney said that we could file to have that dropped, but yet again, he has to have the money before he files any kind of motion.
