In this video, I discuss how to use the reins on a horse. If you are a beginner or even an advanced rider I hope you find some valuable information.

I start by discussing the correct rein length. This is important to know as it can positively or negatively affect how effective your reins are when communicating different things to your horse.

Next, I cover the two most common ways that I use my reins. These are the opening rein and direct rein. Each one will be used at different times depending on how your horse reacts to your seat. To illustrate this I demonstrate using the opening rein to turn and also using a direct rein.
