Artefact III Version 3 for solo Kontraforte - Faidra Chafta Douka & Olivia Palmer Baker

This is the third version of Artefact III for solo contraforte, part of a research project by composer Faidra Chafta-Douka, performed by Olivia Palmer-Baker.

This piece is semi-improvised and graphically notated using a notation system developed by Faidra, and involves process as a core element. Through researching how contraforte responds to different intentions (pressure increases, changing internal space, micro-movements of keys, not listening/observing all sound and many other ways), we organised these processes to create a piece that explores the extremes of the Kontraforte.

It's a piece that's great to shut your eyes and listen to, how the sound gently evolves, with more and more climatic and unstable moments interrupting this slow transformation.
