10 Things I Wish I Knew Before Music University // BIMM, What To Expect & Music College Tips

I studied songwriting at BIMM Bristol (The British and Irish Modern Music Institute) about 10 years ago now!

Going to music college is really exciting and whilst I loved my time at this music academy, I definitely feel that there are things I would have done differently.

Moving away from home and going to university is a big step for anyone, but I definitely think that going to study music professionally in the hope of achieving your dreams is a little more daunting.

Having come out the other side, I wanted to look back at the things I wish I knew before going to study! I hope these tips and advice help you if you are thinking of going to BIMM, ACM, Royal College Of Music or whatever other universities are out there at the moment!

If you are currently studying at a music college, best of luck and please hit me up if you have any questions. MUCH LOVE x

Here are my 10 things if you want to scan them quickly!

1. It’s expensive
2. You’re not as good as you think you are
3. Your attitude is more important than your skill level
4. It’s not all fun and games
5. The industry changes quicker than the syllabus
6. It will go quickly!
7. Go to as many gigs as you can
8. Say yes to everything (at the beginning)
