What does it really mean to be patient?
Do You Understand The True Meaning of Patience?
By being patient does it mean we just stay still waiting for the best to happen?
Or does it mean we accept the bad things and experience bad emotions and do nothing?
The truth is most persons get patience wrong; they believe that patience and waiting are same. For example: let’s say you were planting a tree and despite your daily efforts the tree doesn’t seem to grow. If I asked you to be patient, does it mean you have to stop watering and caring for the tree but instead wait? That’s not true, because if you stopped watering the tree, it will die. So patience means working hard but also waiting for results.
Patience is essential to our daily life – and might be key to a happy one.
Religion and philosophers have for long praised the virtue of patience, and now researchers are starting to do so as well; besides some of this science backed studies have shown that good things really come to those who are wait. Patience is and exercise of self-control that shows that you can handle life when times get tough, having the ability to have an outside look at yourself and can also withstand judgement when you need to.
Patient people are not helpless or desperate. They are not the ones who lie and wait in bed for the white knight to come save them. Rather they are the white knights who know how to save themselves. They understand that the pain or discomfort the are going through is just temporary.
Life itself is tough and it’s tough moments like this that can make one desperate and really mad. Without patience, these moments will look like hell. Adding that, patient people enjoy better mental health, patient people are better neighbors and friends, being patient helps us achieve our goal and overall, patience has been linked to good health.
Exhibiting patience means you can remain persistent and stay in something for the long run. You also don’t try to cut corners but you are instead patiently trying to work it out. It doesn’t matter how much you complain or whine, what you want is not going to happen any faster because you are impatient. Impatience only causes stress, anxiety and frustration.
So next time you feel yourself about to turn impatient for whatever reason, ask yourself: will becoming impatient help me in this situation? And examine your answer. You will no doubt discover being impatient will not change the situation. So stay still and just go with and through it patiently.
And it has been said that you cannot create something great without time. Patience truly is a virtue. What do you think is the true meaning of patience? Please share in the comments below.
