Anatomy of the Carpal Tunnel & Syndrome by John Gibbons

https://bodymaster-method.mykajabi.com/nerves-masterclass
John Gibbons is a registered Osteopath, Lecturer and Multi-published Author and is discussing the Carpal tunnel and then demonstrates how to test the Median Nerve and this nerve originates from C5 to T1 from the Brachial plexus and supplies some of the flexors of the forearm and the LOAF muscles in the hand – lumbricles, opponens pollicis, abductor and flexor pollicis brevis. This nerve can get damaged within the carpal tunnel and altered sensation to the thumb, index, middle and half the ring finger and weakness of the pinch grip and thenar eminence and phalens and tinel tests are good to detect pathology.

Osteopath, lecturer and author John Gibbons offers an accessible introduction to the peripheral nervous system (PNS) through The Vital Nerves online course. Alongside real case studies and guidelines for hands-on work with clients and patients. The Vital Nerves masterclass demystifies and makes accessible everything from how to diagnose nerve conditions to understanding how our cells communicate.

Gibbons provides critical insights into the structure and functions of the PNS; the body’s response to stimuli and how it knows what to do; the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems; understanding the stress response; and how reflex testing can aid in diagnosing conditions like M.S., Parkinson’s Disease, and disc herniations.

➢ Assess the nervous system using a patella (reflex) hammer, myotome (muscle) testing and dermatome (sensory) testing
➢ Determine whether pain in the posterior part of the thigh is caused by the sciatic nerve, piriformis or simply a hamstring strain
➢ Decide at what level a disc may have herniated Differentiate between upper and lower motor neurone disorders
➢ Know what to do with the findings of your neurological assessment and the circumstances under which to refer patients for more specialist care.

On completion of the course you will have the knowledge and practical experience necessary to identify, assess and treat specific pathologies found within the neurological framework and perform a variety of techniques that will help formulate a diagnosis and prognosis for your patients.
