6th Weekly Microbusiness License Holder Meeting – 2024/09/30 18:49 CDT – Recording
Next Monday's meeting should be interesting. Someone took me up on my offer to let another person host a meeting and I jumped at the chance! I'll release a supplementary newsletter email later with more details on next week's meeting.
Check the links below for discount codes to both MJ BizCon and MJ Unpacked. John Payne came through with the link for the social equity application for the upcomming MJ BizCon event, which can possibly earn you a three day complimentary Expo + Conference pass. That link is below as well.
Additionally, I am including the links to three documents supplied to Luis Gonzales by DHSS about what the State wants to see as far as inspections (including commencement). Much of the information is specific to wholesalers, but some will apply to everyone I am assuming.
Summary of this week's call:
The meeting commenced with David Huckins welcoming Daphne Cook, the owner of Bloom LLC, who provided valuable insights into the wholesale cultivation business. She highlighted the significance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for business commencement and shared strategies for expansion, including cost-effective security measures. Daphne also stressed the importance of hands-on learning and proactive business development, engaging participants in a dialogue to clarify her points and offer further guidance.
Daphne addressed specific challenges related to security camera installations, particularly the issues with Wi-Fi cameras and the necessity for hardwired options. Scott Wootton contributed by discussing compliance standards for these cameras and the importance of considering electrical infrastructure when selecting locations. Jim Mondl inquired about electrical requirements for potential buildings, leading to a discussion on updating blueprints for camera installations. Following this, David Huckins transitioned the conversation to a new networking format, where he shared his elevator pitch for his micro business, High and Tight, and encouraged participation in market research.
The meeting continued with David Tucker announcing his candidacy for a seat on the wholesale board, expressing confidence in his potential contributions. He also shared his background in cannabis cultivation and extraction, while Craig Flanigan introduced himself, emphasizing his commitment to the industry. Additionally, Zach Becker announced his intention to run for a dispensary board seat. The group then discussed an article from the Missouri Independent regarding alleged predatory contracts, with participants sharing their perspectives on the implications for the cannabis licensing process in Missouri and the importance of fair distribution of micro licenses.
As the meeting progressed, discussions shifted to the legal considerations surrounding investor solicitation in the cannabis industry. David Huckins and others emphasized the need for caution due to strict securities laws and the importance of having legal documents prepared. The conversation also highlighted the necessity of involving attorneys and subject matter experts in future discussions.
Samantha Blum presented updates on community initiatives, including a showroom opportunity and collaborations with organizations like M4MM and MOCAN. The meeting concluded with a focus on the importance of compliance and SOPs, with participants expressing gratitude for the collaborative efforts and insights shared throughout the session.
Hope to see everyone on the next call!
Until next week
