Putting a JET on my kayak (Bixpy Jet)

*Just to address some of the comments. I registered the kayak the day before we shot this video :)

I never thought I’d see the day where I’d be putting an external source of power to propel my kayak. But here we are, it’s 2018 and we’re seeing more and more people with trolling motors, torqueedos, etc on the back of their kayaks to make fishing life easier. This is definitely not the norm but do you remember 2-3 years ago when having pedal/mirage drives wasn’t the norm? Bottom line here is that we’re in a growing sport and if you fish tournaments as much as I do, you understand the importance of being efficient on the water. I fish a lot of tournaments and it’s important to me to spend as little time/energy pedaling to a spot as possible so I can maximize my fishing time . Enter the Bixpy Jet. Mid throttle (speed 5) with light/moderate pedal: 3.8-4.0 mph
High throttle (speed 10) with moderate pedal: 4.2-4.4 mph
High throttle (speed 10) with heavy pedal reaching 4.6 mph
Drive pulled, high throttle without any pedal, 3.0 mph
Drive pulled, mid throttle without any pedal, 2.2 mph

Average cruising speed: 3.4-3.6 mph
Max pedal speed: 4.0 mph
