Mt. Evans - Full summit hike via Summit Ridge from Echo Lake, with maps & route description

My climb up 14er Mt. Evans via its scenic Summit Ridge finish, starting from Echo Lake on July 17, 2019. This scenic ascent takes you through a beautiful forested basin, past 5 lakes, and across a lofty alpine landscape. This was my 5th time on this route. While getting nearly to the summit by car during the summer is easy, the standard climbing route on this high Colorado 14er has pretty tough endurance stats - 12 to 13 miles total distance, and between 4,800 and 5,400 feet of elevation gain depending on the finish. The summit ridge finish, which is more scenic and which I took here, has a stretch of class 2+ climbing and is longer than the NE slopes finish. It is also windier. But no matter which finish you choose, it is probably going to be windy on certain stretches. So the difficulty of ascending this mtn. on foot is easy to underestimate. I also find it to be one of the most picturesque 14er climbs. I include maps and route description.

*Note: In the narration and in the written caption from roughly 24:23 to 24:28, I refer to the gentle "southeast slopes." I am actually talking about the northeast slopes here, which I accurately refer to elsewhere in the video, including on the maps. (Oops).
