White Swan Pas De Deux (Kistler, Lyon)
Here's the White Swan Pas with Darci Kistler and Robert Lyon, at the height of their technique, and two of the most physically gifted dancers I've ever seen. This was for a Kennedy Centers Honors celebrating Alexandra Danilova. Darci was trained extensively at my school in Los Angeles until she was 15 and went to SAB in New York City. There she became Danilova's favorite student; who taught her this role. The musical tempo is perfect (same as the early Galina Ulanova version on YouTube) and Balanchine took her into the company while she was still 15; where she again danced "Swan Queen" in his one-act version of SWAN LAKE. She was truly the last of his ballerinas. Her career was plagued by injuries after Balanchine died and she retired relatively early. But here...she is perfection. Too bad the TV station who aired this spoiled some of it by that scrolling at the bottom, but it's better than nothing.
