Ukraine Claims Control of Klishchiivka, US Says Kyiv's Victory Will Be "A High Bar" | Russia War

Ukrainian authorities announced that Kyiv’s forces had retaken Klishchiivka on Sept. 17, a tactically important town south of Bakhmut. Ukrainian Land Forces Commander Oleksandr Syrskyi said “Klishchiivka was cleared of Russians”. Ukraine’s 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade released footage of troops holding up the Ukrainian flag in Klishchiivka. The mayor of Kherson Ihor Kolykhaiev, reported missing for over a year, is in Russian captivity. Kolykhaiev’s son said he contacted the Red Cross, which confirmed Kolykhaiev’s name was on a list of prisoners. US Army Gen. Mark Milley has said that a Ukrainian victory in the conflict is a “very high bar”.
