DUSTING POWDER
Preparation of dusting powder is one of the easiest practical in pharmaceutics (Cosmetic Technology). Although the importance of dusting powder is very high. As the name indicates dusting powder is used for many purposes including- Adsorption of excess moisture from the are applied (Skin) this moisture may be due to sweating or pus in the infected area. Dusting powder is essentially used in the wound to adsorb its excreates or pus formed by microorganisms. The ingredients of dusting powders are - Salicylic acid for making dusting powder, starch for use in dusting powder, talc to be used in making of dusting powder, Zinc oxide to make a dusting powder. here in these ingredients of dusting powder salicylic acid is used as Antiseptic and antifungal activity, so when the dusting powder is applied in that area that is having a bacterial or fungal infection then it helps to recover from infection. Zinc Oxide used in dusting powder is a very good example of astringent and antiseptic. Astringent is an agent which precipitates the protein of the microorganism and prevents infection. Starch is adsorbant which will absorb excess moisture. Dusting powder is used in many cases- in case of infection of the skin, fungal itching during the rainy season.
