EXPERIMENT:-15 CONVENTION CURRENT IN AIR [#cbse #experiment #education #magic ]

When we make a paper ring and place it on a stand above a burning candle, after some time the ring starts rotating. This experiment is based on the principle of **Convection Current** and **Uneven Heating of Air** in Physics.

The candle heats the air below the paper ring. Hot air becomes lighter because its density decreases, so it rises upward. This rising hot air does not move perfectly uniformly. Due to the shape of the paper ring and slight imbalance in airflow, the hot air creates a twisting force called **torque** on the ring. Because of this torque, the paper ring starts rotating continuously.

This experiment beautifully demonstrates:

* **Convection currents in air**
* **Transfer of heat**
* **Difference in air pressure and density**
* **Conversion of heat energy into mechanical motion**

The hotter the candle flame, the stronger the upward air current becomes, and the faster the paper ring may rotate.

It is a simple but amazing demonstration showing how invisible moving air can create motion using basic laws of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.
