This documentary tells the story of four remarkable girls suffering from the life-threatening and incurable genetic skin condition known as Harlequin Ichthyosis. They are the only two sets of siblings in the world with this, the most severe form of continuous scaling of the skin. The skin forms diamond shaped scales and causes facial features to disfigure like those of a Harlequin clown. Babies born with it rarely survive, and the girls only do so thanks to a strict round the clock regime of scrubbing and moisturising their skin.
