Caves and Stone mines

In this weeks video we look at two locations. The Brinksway or Maggies caves in Stockport. Also the Pinner stone mine at crawshawbooth Lancashire England. Maggies caves are a mystery thought to have been hewn from the sandstone in the early 1700's by local corn mill tunnellers they provided shelter for many years to homeless people. Situated high above the river Mersey in the banks. The pinner stone quarry and mine provided high quality stone for setts ( or cobbles) machine beds and paving flags. It was a victorian stone mine.
