Should AI make the actual investment decision? In this video I explain why we deliberately keep a human in that seat — and why I think that's the right call for now.

The way I see it, an AI that can make venture investment decisions is a lot like an AI that can predict the stock market. If something like that truly worked, two things would be true at once: first, you'd never sell it to anyone, because it would simply be too valuable; and second, it would completely eliminate the need for certain roles. That's exactly why I think we're a long way from that point. It's an area I'm actively monitoring and find genuinely interesting, but we're not yet at a stage where AI can do this successfully in a way I'd feel confident about — confident enough to stake our reputation on it.
The same logic applies to AI interviews. As a founder, I think you'd ask, "Why isn't a person talking to me?" — and the perception would be very negative. There's real value in having a human on the other side of the table when the stakes are high. AI is a powerful tool in the process, but the decision still belongs to people.
