Why Vault Boy is in Smash

Vault Boy, mascot of the Fallout series, is soon to be available as a DLC Mii Fighter costume in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. It's clear from the cute little animatic that featured in the recent Smash Direct that Masahiro Sakurai and the rest of the team are rather pleased with this addition to the game.

Delving into the history of Bethesda and Nintendo, it's clear that this partnership has been a long time coming. The two companies have worked together on various ports to the Switch in recent years, bringing Skyrim, Doom, Doom Eternal, and Wolfenstein to the platform. Oh, and also Fallout Shelter. Well, at least it's not Fallout 76.

To hear both Nintendo and Bethesda tell it, the two companies are always looking for opportunities to collaborate, although since their first discussion surrounding a Smash Bros crossover took place before September 2018, it doesn't seem as if they were in any hurry to make this happen.

Regardless, Vault Boy (not Fallout Boy, that's someone else) is now coming to Smash, so let the good times roll.

(Although how amazing would it be if Fallout Boy actually did come to Smash? Everything would come up Milhouse!)
