Christmas Oratorio #2 - Sinfonia (BWV248) by J.S. Bach

(A personal arrangement for piano)
The 6 parts were written after Bach arrived in Leipzig in 1734. They were performed in 4 churches including St. Nicholas & St. Thomas on Sundays between Christmas & Epiphany. The music was influenced by Lutheran hymns from Michael Pretorius & Martin Luther (200 years apart).

#2: the angel announced to the shepherds in the fields the birth of the Christ Child has an orchestral intro. It's more common for Bach to begin a cantata / oratorio with a brief intro and into the chorus.
