COVID and Vaccine Diplomacy: China and Chile's New Relationship
Over the last year, masks, medical supplies, and Sinovac vaccines have poured into Chile from Chinese benefactors. In so-called COVID diplomacy or vaccine diplomacy, China and Chile have forged a new relationship as China has sought to repair its global image after its initial handling of the pandemic. Francisco Urdinez breaks down the new partnership, the misconceptions from Western countries, and how Chileans perceive the effectiveness of the Chinese-made vaccines.
