In order to design the firefighting system, the following steps are very important:-
1. Selecting the correct Occupancy hazards for the building
2. Selecting the hydraulic area in the building using density-area curves
3. Hydraulic calculations, etc

For example, as per NFPA 13, For hydraulic area L= 1.2 times square root of sprinkler operation area. How this 1.2 comes from?. Like this, plenty of information has been added along with the calculation.
