Accompanying a nomad doctor in Mongolia | DW Documentary

She comes by horse or reindeer — Doctor Shurentsetseg is on call, ready at any time. Her mission is to keep nomads in native Mongolia healthy.

Whether it’s a toothache, child’s illness, or any other health issue, Shurentsetseg Ganbold travels out to nomads to offer them medical assistance. Her husband supports her work by staying at home with their 3 young children, and occasionally drives her to her destination – if it’s possible. Her story is one of an unceasing fighter, who herself also grew up in a nomad family. As an adult, she went on to study medicine and now doesn’t just take care of her family, but also works to keep nomadism alive in her country. We accompany her on her adventurous house calls.
