Snorre Expansion Project - UK Ripple effects

The oil & gas industry is global and large projects on the Norwegian continental shelf sometimes also creates ripple effects across the North Sea – as well as in Norway.

The Snorre Expansion Project, which came on stream in December 2020 (or three months ago), got some really big deliveries from Scotland (approximately 34 000 tonnes to be exact).  Being the only facility that makes bundles (huge gathering pipes) in Europe, Subsea 7 in Wick was awarded the important contract.  They have a long list of UK suppliers:

Global Energy Group in Invergordon delivered the massive tow heads which was manouvred elegantly through the town of Wick by Osprey and Allelys before arriving the Subsea 7 site in Wester. The carrier pipes are produced by Liberty in Hartlepool, the pipe-in-pipe sleeves were delivered from Tata Steelwork in Hartlepool, the clamps that keeps the pipes together inside the carrier pipe were delivered by GOWS in Lybster  and the small bore valves came from Pacson Valves in Dundee – just to mention a few.

TechnipFMC was awarded the contract for subsea production systems and delivered umbilicals from Newcastle and Xmas-trees from Dunfermline.

Thanks to all of you for delivering #together.
