COVID Surges As Thanksgiving & The Holidays Near. Here's What You Need To Know To Lower Your Risk

On Wednesday Texas became the first state with more than 1 million confirmed COVID-19 cases. California is running a close second as we see a surge of coronavirus infections across the country.

Texas has amassed 1.2 million coronavirus cases and over 19,000 deaths since March. California has more than 995,000 cases.

The United States hit a record number of coronavirus hospitalizations and surpassed 1 million new confirmed cases in just the first 10 days of November.

The new wave appears to be bigger than the spring and summer surges and with the holidays approaching, medical experts are concerned that we haven't seen the worst of it.

Dr. Karissa Culbreath, Medical Director for Infectious Disease Diagnostics at Tricore Reference Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico spoke with Roland Martin about the surge and offered guidance on what to do to avoid infection during Thanksgiving and the holiday season.
