Airborne 06.15.26: Storm v Airport, UFO Files, Wayward CFI Sentenced
Also: NORAD Responds, T-7A Red Hawk Instructors, 100th G700, Solid State Helios Horizon
Strong storms have caused significant damage to planes and hangars at the Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport in Springfield, Illinois. Photos showed several small planes thrown into fences. Other images showed damage to airplane hangars. Springfield Airport Authority Executive Director Mark Hanna said reports of damage on site included structural damage to four of the smaller hangars on the south side of the main entrance road. Some of the hangars were blown over and caused fence damage. The Pentagon said it is publishing the third release of declassified and historical Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) files as part of the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UFO encounters. The collection continues to be housed on the Pentagon’s UFO website; the department will release additional files on a rolling basis. A flight instructor charged with involuntary manslaughter for a 2022 plane crash in the Lehigh Valley in Eastern Pennsylvania that killed a student pilot was sentenced to more than six years in prison. Eastern U.S. Federal District Judge John M. Gallagher sentenced Philip McPherson II, 37, of Riverside, N.J., to 78 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release on charges of involuntary manslaughter, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, obstruction of an administrative proceeding and 40 counts of serving as an airman without a certificate. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne-Unlimited!!!
