Pain is a universal problem and finding the source of pain is the goal of every practitioner and person who is suffering. However, too often a key factor in the equation is ignored, leaving people with the option of taking strong medications to mask the pain. It has been estimated that 48,000 American’s die every year from opioid dependency and overdose. Yet, thousands of people could be saved from a lifetime of pain, addiction to drugs, or unnecessary surgery by simply treating the source of pain instead of treating the symptoms of pain. This simple answer brought one man back from losing his opportunity to compete at the Olympics, to breaking a World Record three times!
Julie Donnelly has specialized in the treatment of chronic pain and sports injuries since 1989. She has treated thousands of individuals, including Olympic and World Class athletes. Julie has worked with people as young as 4 years old, and clients who were well into their 90’s. She is the author of multiple books, including Treat Yourself to Pain-Free Living, The Pain-Free Athlete, and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: What You Don’t Know CAN Hurt You! Julie Donnelly graduated from the Swedish Institute of Allied Health in New York & was licensed as a massage therapist in 1989. She immediately began specializing in chronic pain & sports injuries in both professional & non-professional athletes. When she was unable to find anyone to help her with her own injuries, Julie began developing the Julstro self-treatments. This grew to a specialty she uses to help her clients stop pain even during a race, or whenever pain struck.

She has taught the Julstro Method of Osteopathic Muscular Therapy to physical therapists at the Cleveland Clinic and massage therapists around the USA. She has taught Julstro self-treatments to dancers at Juilliard School of Performing Arts, and to hundreds of athletes & non-athletes.
Julie is the author of 7 books, including Treat Yourself to Pain-Free Living, The 15 Minute Back Pain Solution, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome – What You Don’t Know CAN Hurt You, The Pain-Free Athlete & The Secret to Your Best Golf Game EVER! This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
