Plenty of kids grow up watching The Flintstones in reruns, but unlike so many TV cartoons, The Flintstones originally aired in prime-time and was aimed at adult audiences.

It’s not that kids couldn’t watch it, but there were plenty of jokes that went over their heads. The show was based on The Honeymooners after all, which meant Fred had a dead-end job, financial troubles, an unhappy marriage, and a pet dinosaur (alright, The Honeymooners didn’t have that one, but can you imagine?).
