First greeted with optimism and endless possibility in the 1950s, for many, mention of nuclear power now provokes concern – fears of radiation from nuclear waste and the disasters at Chernobyl and Fukushima front of mind. But as the climate crisis deepens, and the world’s energy demands continue to grow, the quest for low-carbon future makes nuclear power hard to ignore.
