1947 में भारत-पाकिस्तान विभाजन के बाद रिजर्व बैंक ऑफ इंडिया (RBI) दिसंबर 1948 तक दोनों देशों के लिए केंद्रीय बैंक की भूमिका निभा रहा था। इस दौरान भारतीय नोटों पर "Government of Pakistan" छापकर पाकिस्तान में उपयोग किया गया।

After the partition in 1947, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) served as the central bank for both India and Pakistan until December 1948. During this period, Indian currency notes were overprinted with “Government of Pakistan” and used in Pakistan.
These notes were valid only in Pakistan and could not be exchanged in India.
