You can replace or mount the bird while the movement is still in the case if you take out the bellows that are in your way. Typically you just need to take the bellow out that has the lift wire that lifts the tail of the bird. It takes a little patience to replace the bird or to attach the bird while the movement is still in the case but it can be done. I did not discuss to check to make sure that the mounting post is not damaged and that it is tightly secured onto the movement mounting post. Sometimes the bird mounting post is bent and you might have to bend it back. If you do that be sure not to damage the place where it is mounted to the movement.
