This description will most likely be a very long one so bare with me. Let me write everything down properly in a "zusammenfassung" for everyone to understand where I am really coming from.

Since living in Germany, I have noticed that weight is a major topic for the age groups (women) of 12-20 & 45 +. Coming from the USA where being curvy/thick was a normal/idolized body type I honestly thought other places would be the same... I mean everyone loves Beyonce, Kim Kardashian was once the sexiest woman in the world... YOU GET MY POINT but that was not the case.

I came to Germany and realized people like Heidi Klum, Lena Gercke (just to name a few) were the body types people idolized. I am not saying that one type of body is better than the other, I am just saying the ideal "body goals" were not similar. Being on the THICKER side I had a hard time adjusting to this switch. I was considered "sexy" "hot" etc etc in the USA and would sometimes be called FAT or "ubergewicht" in Germany which I knew was a little overdramatic. But I sometimes had a hard time with body image in Germany because of the beauty standard.

I have noticed now in the German social media influencer world the shift to becoming thin will be attained by ridiculous measures, even if it means not eating all day. Especially for the younger girl/woman target. It just goes to show how much of a difference there is between beauty standards in the world. Now don't get me wrong, the USA is no better in regards to diets & weightloss but I think it's such a hype right now in Germany that everyone is affected. I have never thought that in the USA people would consider being on the verge of anorexic a positive thing BUT in Germany I think it might be "pushed" at times.

Of course how I was eating in the USA was not ideal BUT I would not consider it a hindering eating disorder, where I would eat for days or skip multiple meals.

I am all for body love and I am all for being sexy in your skin but sometimes it's very hard in such an opinionated society like Germany (sorry not sorry). To love yourself let alone be comfortable with yourself is such a hard thing to accomplish in the current world and sometimes the German standard makes it hard. Sometimes German people like to be "brutally honest" which they cover up as being "truthful" but in reality it can come off as arrogant and demeaning. I still love Germany but I think there is such a negative image around curves and a lot of body shaming that goes on here and would hope that it gets a little better in the near future. Maybe someone will watch this video and get where I am coming from because it's such a touchy controversial topic BUT sometimes you need to address the elephant in the room in order to make a change. Small steps people.
