Hot Air Balloon Safari Over the Maasai Mara — The Most Incredible Morning of My Life

There are moments on a trip that stop you cold. This was one of them.
I'm Trey Tracy, a travel advisor based in Madison, MS — and on a recent FAM trip to Kenya with SKYIN Safari, I had the privilege of launching in a hot air balloon over the Maasai Mara at first light. What followed was one of the most extraordinary hours of my life.

From a few hundred feet above the savanna, we watched elephants move across the plains, hippos snort in the rivers below, and wildebeest dot the landscape as far as the eye could see — all while the sun rose over one of the most biodiverse regions on the planet. Hearing the elephants trumpet from above the morning mist is something I genuinely didn't have words for in the moment. I'm still not sure I do now.

The Maasai Mara is already extraordinary at ground level. From the air, it's something else entirely.
