The festival of San Fermín is a week-long, historically rooted celebration held annually in the city of Pamplona, Spain. The celebrations began at noon on July 6th, when the party started with the setting off the pyrotechnic, and continued until the midnight of July 15th with the singing of "Pobre de Mí".
Los Sanfermines son una celebración histórica de una semana de duración, que se celebran anualmente en la ciudad de Pamplona. San Fermín 2019 comenzó el 6 de julio a mediodía con el disparo del cohete y continuó hasta la medianoche del 15 de julio con el cántico popular del "Pobre de mí".
While its most famous event is the encierro, or the running of the bulls, the festival involves many other traditional and folkloric events. It is known locally as Sanfermines and is held in honour of Saint Fermin, the co-patron of Navarre. Its events were central to the plot of The Sun Also Rises, by Ernest Hemingway, which brought it to the general attention of English-speaking people. It has become probably the most internationally renowned fiesta in Spain. Over 1,000,000 people come to participate in this festival.
El encierro es el acto más famoso. Las fiestas tienen muchos otros eventos tradicionales y folclóricos. Localmente se conocen como Sanfermines y se celebran en honor a San Fermín, el patrón de Navarra. Parte de la trama de Fiesta, de Ernest Hemingway, se desarrolla en Pamplona durante los Sanfermines. Probablemente se haya convertido en la fiesta más reconocida internacionalmente en España.
