Mission Gait | Solomon Islands Prosthetic & Orthotic Lab Update
Exciting things are happening for Walking Free in 2024!
To see this project go from idea to design-build, delivery, installation, and first prosthetic productions has been incredible. We are overjoyed to see these patients WALK again!! Knowing that this idea of a Prosthetic & Orthotic Lab inside a shipping container is a reality – and that it can be replicated fills us with hope for the future of others!
Our commitment doesn’t end with delivery and production, though. Walking Free provides a comprehensive program that includes physical rehabilitation training. That is what is up next! In April, we are sending a team to the Solomon Islands to include 2 physical therapists and two prosthetists. They will continue their training and mentorship with Wilfred, the Solomon Islands’ prosthetist, and the existing hospital staff and coordinate with the Ministry of Health to ensure long-term success.
