Montana Keystone 5th wheel landing gear motor R&R (you can do it, please share))

On our last adventure at the last RV Park our landing gear stopped working properly. it wouldn't go up it wouldn't go down, without the help of me hand cranking it. We were able to hook back up to the truck and take it to our storage parking lot.

In this video I'll show you how to change the motor we determined was the problem. Along with the transmission gear plate that seem to be way too loose. Anyone can change their motor. It's very simple. Probably would take less than a half hour to remove it and replace it.

How do you know if you need a new motor?
Well in our case the motor was getting hot the wiring was getting warm and it was flipping off the breaker if I tried to make it move either up or down.

I had thought maybe it was the gearbox because of the looseness of it.

We secured that, tried the motor again same results.

That's when I ordered a new motor with the help of etrailer.
That solved the problem.

While I was in there I decided to re-lubricate the landing gear legs. I know I'm going to get a lot of hate comments by the way I did it. But I did it my way.

I opened the caps poured oil down through the legs and then packed the top where the gears are with Greece.

I know someone is going to say I made a mess and it's always going to be oily and they don't want to be oily. Well they're not oily after you clean them off with a rag and some brake cleaner.
