For fifty years they have stood shoulder to shoulder through storms most of us will never face. And today their hearts are anchored to one purpose. Creating safe spaces where autistic children and adults can feel understood, supported and able to thrive.
Their inspiration is their grandson Dominic whose courage opened their eyes to the gaps families live with every day. Driven by love and a sense of duty, they have already raised six million dollars to build The Haven, a centre created to give autistic individuals the chance to flourish with dignity and joy.
Their project Laps for Love continues that mission with compassion and action. This is not charity for applause. It is family. It is purpose. It is real work changing real lives.
In this conversation Mick and Cheryl speak with honesty about the lessons learned, the sacrifices made and the patience and compromise that carried their marriage through five remarkable decades.
