The Feisty Way to Lead Change
1. Name the disruption. Don’t pretend it’s business as usual. Say: “This is a big shift, and it’s going to feel uncomfortable.” That honesty earns trust.

2. Honour the emotion. When someone says, “I’m frustrated,” don’t rush to fix it. Respond with: “I hear you — this is hard, and your feelings matter.” That acknowledgment changes everything.

3. Anchor in the why. Don’t just share tasks — share the bigger picture. “This change will help us serve our clients/customers/members better, and that’s why it matters.” Values give meaning to the discomfort.

4. Pace the adoption. Some people will sprint, like me. Others will crawl. Leadership isn’t about dragging the slowest — it’s about making space for different speeds.
