Tropical Storm Watch is still in effect for Jamaica due to ongoing heavy rainfall| November 17, 2023

A Tropical Storm Watch is still in effect for Jamaica due to ongoing heavy rainfall affecting all parishes.

Additionally, a Flash Flood Warning is issued for low-lying and flood-prone areas in southern and eastern parishes, including Westmoreland, St Elizabeth, Manchester, Clarendon, St Catherine, Kingston, St Andrew, St Thomas, Portland, and St Mary.

Another Flash Flood Watch is in place for other vulnerable areas on the island.

Although the potential tropical cyclone remains disorganised, it is expected to bring 200-300 millimeters (7-12 inches) of locally heavy rainfall and strong, gusty winds to Jamaica today, particularly impacting southern and eastern parishes.

This is likely to lead to flooding in affected areas, with an increased risk of landslides.
