Recently Varma ji was going on raving about Bruce Lee, whom he admires a lot. He was talking about the book called Striking Thoughts, which was a brilliant collection of quotes by Bruce Lee, which could be applied not just to martial arts, but to many other art forms and to life in general too. So I requested Varma ji to make a series of small videos with tips that would be useful for music students. He kindly obliged and sent me a dozen videos! Each of them containing nuggets of wisdom, expressed in Varma ji's unique style which is simultaneously crystal clear and disarmingly simple and accessible to all.So many points he raises are so widely prevalent and yet, few people seem to notice them.I share Varma ji's hope that at least a few, select, thinking musicians, music teachers and music students, would take the time and effort to introspect a bit and polish their wares and make them shine more brightly, the way Varma ji has been quietly doing for years and years.Despite the wealth of knowledge that Varma ji has acquired, his talks are unfailingly from the point of view of a music student, a music lover and aspirant, rather than from the point of view of the legendary Guru that he is.
