Murali Nayak, an Indian Army jawan from Andhra Pradesh, was martyred in a Pakistan attack along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir on May 8, 2025. Hailing from Kalli Thanda village in Sri Sathya Sai district, Murali lost his life during heavy shelling amid Operation Sindoor, where Indian forces repelled Pakistan’s drone and missile attacks. The incident occurred as tensions escalated following India’s retaliatory strikes on terror camps in Pakistan, triggered by the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 people. Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu and Governor Syed Abdul Nazeer expressed condolences, with the state announcing full honors for Murali’s last rites. His body is expected to reach his village on May 10, 2025. The martyrdom of this 25-year-old, the only son of daily wagers Mudavath Sriram and Jyothibai, has left his community in mourning.
