Getting Smarter with Octopus Energy 🐙

One of the things that gets British EV drivers all excited and flustered is Octopus Energy's Agile tariff. By tracking the wholesale energy costs, any savings are passed on to the customer: that includes the rare but wonderful times when there's excess energy in the grid and you get paid to use it.

To take advantage of this, you need a smart meter. This video is about my experience with Octopus: why I chose them as my supplier; taking advantage of the rates; installing smart electric (and gas) meters; the energy monitor and - right at the end - the small toy Octopus they left for my daughter.

There are two smart tariffs: Go and Agile. I'm going to go with Go to begin with but I'll do a follow-up video in a week or two showing how much money I'd save (or pay) if I were on Agile instead.
