Elite level footballers are world class athletes, who have the best coaching and nutrition imaginable, and are paid millions - yet even the finest set piece specialists can't seem to beat the first man from a corner kick.

Four out of every ten corners fail to beat the first man, and that rises to more than half - 54.2% - or all inswingers across Europe's top five leagues - the Premier League, La Liga, the Bundesliga, Serie A, and Ligue 1.

It's a seemingly bizarre phenomenon that often infuriates football fans, so in this video, HITC Sevens attempts to explain it, why perhaps we shouldn't get so annoyed, and the science of corners as a whole.
