2021 USARA Adventure Racing National Championships - Team thisABILITY

What a weekend! This was our team’s 4th USARA National Championship and it was our best result yet! We came in 13th in the Premier 3 Person Coed Division and 18th overall.
The race was a great design with so many options that it’s hard to think that anyone team made all of the same choices!
The stand-out features in this area are the mountain bike trails and they had all ranges and flavors, from technical rocky trails, to smooth banked flowing trails. Fun!
Another not as fun, but totally unique feature of this race was a section of the course where the iron deposits in the ground made our compasses go crazy. While it made for some frustrating navigation errors for us, it was pretty cool to see your compass wig-out. Never seen that before!
I’d say my favorite thing about this race was the collective energy. It was great to see so many teams along the way and at the transition areas. Because of the design of the race, it was near impossible to determine where in the standings each team was. We get a little boost, too, any time we get to give a shout-out to another team!
