Balloon Debate: Ageing | Andrea Gillies

You have £1 million to spend on the challenge of an ageing population. What do you think is a priority? Who would you give £1m to, and how would you decide? Four speakers were invited to champion their own proposals in a debate which saw one speaker voted out in each round. Andrea Gillies was the eventual winner, followed closely by Hugh Perry.

Andrea Gillies proposed using the £1million to fund regional specialists in art therapy and music therapy in care homes and facilities, who would train volunteers to continue their work.

Andrea Gillies is the author of 'Keeper' and winner of The Wellcome Trust Book Prize.
