Britain's nuclear bomber undergoes conservation | Handley Page Victor

Duxford’s Handley Page Victor has been under conservation now for four years, and is among the largest conservation projects the team at Duxford have ever undertaken. Victor XH648 is the only tanker BK model left in the world. She's currently residing in Hangar 5 with no outer wings, no tail plane, no fin, a large chunk of her undercarriage removed, and her almost paintwork entirely stripped. So what does it take to preserve a Cold War bomber? With no instruction manual to guide them, how did the team begin this project, what can be repaired, and what needs replacing, and what have they discovered so far? Head of Conservation Jon White takes us around the aircraft and explains why a job like this takes so many years to finish.

*Keep an eye on IWM's website and social media channels for an update about the project and the Victor's relocation.*
