Acetylene Lamp Explosion. Read description.

SAFETY NOTE: This is only a lab test for a few seconds use. Acetylene reacts with copper to give cuprous acetylide, which is explosive. So a copper tube is NOT recommended for an acetylene lamp (carbide lamp). On the other hand. the plastic could melt if used for more than a few seconds because the reaction of calcium carbide with water is exothermic and releases heat.

How to make a calcium carbide or acetylene lamp. The first version had a big jar that exploded because it has air mixed with the acetylene. The second version is a small one with a tiny plastic jar.
