CSOR southbound into Cedar Hill Yard
The daily Connecticut Southern manifest arrives at the north end of the old New Haven Cedar Hill Yard along highway I-91. The hand-me-down power found on this train (a former Union Pacific SD40-2 and former Monongahela B38-9E) is typical. The consist of this train is almost exclusively scrap gondolas, which comprise a majority of business here. Not present are the usual assortment of tankcars or boxcars which are often seen on this train. The CSOR interchanges their entire train here to CSX, which has taken over operation of the northern end of Cedar Hill, inherited from Conrail. The Providence & Worcester also operates out of Cedar Hill, and Amtrak has a track CWR facility at the south end. March 13, 2012.
